ombre party nails // Cerys

Posted by Unknown at 2/24/2014 0 comments
Hey guys so I haven't posted a single post in a while and I am hoping now that I have a few posts planned I can get back on track with my schedule!

Okay so let's get started!

Things you will need:

A sponge that can be cut to a size to fit your nails.

2 colours one dark and one lighter
 (eg. black and turquoise)

Glitter (eg. silver) this is optional
You may want a brush to apply the glitter

Cotton wool buds

Nail vanish remover

Clear coat for base and top
That should be it :)

That should be everything :)

First you need to grab you clear coat and paint your nails, we are using this base coat because we want to prevent chipping and staining to the nail, this is a good thing to do since we will be working with darker colours today.

Next you want to grab your sponge ( I find cheap makeup sponges work good with this because they have a soft texture ) I bought mine from Poundland. You need to decide which colour you want to be near the cuticle I find that the darker colour looks best.

You need to paint both colours on the sponge for this look you wont need to mix both colours on the sponge. They will blend automatically when you sponge them on your nail.

This brings me to the next step, you need to dab the sponge on to the nail. I find rotating your finger is the best method for this. ( this part can get messy but don't worry we will clean up at the end.

I usually do one coat and then wait for it to dry, re-apply the polish to the sponge then apply to the nail again.

TIP: I would advise using one sponge per hand to minimise the chance of parts of the sponge sticking to your nail!

After the polish is dry, you can start with the glitter! I like to use a old make up brush to apply the glitter because it is probably the simplest way to do it. Now before the glitter apply one coat of clear polish so that the glitter will stick.

Now I am using silver glitter because I think it looks perfect with the colours I chose but any glitter will do if it matches your colour scheme :) So what I do is apply glitter to one side of the brush, then I pat the brush with the glitter side facing the nail. What I aim for is to have more glitter at the top of the nail and less at the bottom, it gives a nice gradient look! I put paper underneath so I can reuse any excess glitter and to create less mess.

Now what you need to do is tidy up the nails with the nail vanish remover and cotton buds.

Leave the glitter to set then add one last coat of clear polish to help give your look a nice shine and to prevent chipping :)

That's it from me, have a good day!

Kimonos // Faashion February 4

Posted by Unknown at 2/24/2014 2 comments
Okay guys so this is our last Fashion Feb post! we have done 4 posts in total all on different topics. It has been so much fun collaborating with so many different bloggers and we have loved the experience! We would just like to thank Ali (TheCuteLittleBeautyBlogger) for hosting this! you can read her posts here. http://thecutelittlebeautyblog.wordpress.com/

So the last topic is Kimonos. A lot of people don't have a clue what 'kimonos' are, don't worry we didn't either. After researching we found many different styles of them. They are different to anything we have seen before and I guess the style is kind of 'hipster'. So lets get on with the post and we will tell you how we styled it!

The main item for this post is the kimono, we picked this one from MissGuided It is a kind of summery print so we based the rest of our items on the hotter kind of days when not many layers are needed. We loved the floral print and the tassel detail on this item. This is £24.99 This is not to expensive for what it is and I know if I had one I would wear it a lot.

Next item we decided to style was a beanie. This is from NewLook. Beanies are in right now and I really liked how this looked with the outfit, we decided to go with the colour black as it brings out the black tones in the kimono jacket. This too was not very expensive at the price of £6.99

So as I said earlier we are basing this around summery weather, so the next item is a crop top from NewLook We picked a lighter colour so that the outfit wasn't drowned in dark colours. We love how plain this item is it goes just right with the shorts and everything else we styled with. This top is £4.99

So next item is of course shorts. These beauties are from TopShop We decided to go with high waist shorts because they are always look good with crop tops, we also decide to go with acid was ones because this print is in at the moment. These are a little pricey at £30

Okay so for shoes we decided to keep it simple with some casual high styled shoes. These are from H&M  They are good to go with pretty much everything and they really add to the 'hipster' vibe in this outfit, This colour really pops and helps to bring out the kimono. These are £29.99

So the last item we are working with is this bag from MissSelfridge We love this style of bag and the detail on it! I think it is a great accessory and helps to add that glamorous touch needed in this outfit, we saw many bags that would have looked good but this one just grabbed our attention! This is £26

Thank you for reading our post, you can go ahead and read our other post including othe fashion feb posts here.

That's it from us today!

MUA Nail Obsession | Chloe

Posted by Unknown at 2/19/2014 3 comments

Okay I am in love with MUA's £1 Nail polishes! I think for the price they are amazing quality! I thought I'd do a collection / mini review type thing for you all today!

The shades available are:
Clear
Frozen Yoghurt
Strawberry Crush
Bright Pink
All Nude
Moody Mink
Mud Pie
Lush Lilac
Koala Bear
Natural Days
Amaretto Crush
Pistachio Ice Cream
Deepest Purple
Fever Red
Plum Noir
Bright Coral
Bold Blue
Stormy Skies

And I have the shades:
Fever Red
Bright Coral
Deepest Purple
Amaretto Crush
Natural Days
Mud Pie
Bold Blue
Lush Lilac
Bright Pink
Frozen Yoghurt
Pistachio Ice Cream x2

My favourite shade has to be Pistachio Ice Cream especially this time of year where its just getting into spring time, its a brilliant spring colour for my nails and very similar to the Essie mint candy apple in the colour, I can't really compare it quality wise as I've never owned a Essie nail polish! But from online swatches I can tell they are very similar, only MUA is cheaper by almost £7!
All the nail polishes are extremely good quality for the price! And teamed with the Sally Hansen double duty clear coat they will last for about 3-4 days. This for me is good as polish usually chips within the 1 day, I have no idea why but I thinks its because I'm a bit clumsy to be honest. All Polishes apply nicely but I have noticed sometimes a second coat is required.
Overall I would give all the nail polishes around 4 stars!

I thought this would be a bit of a different type of post for you all today! Its a bit long I know but thanks for reading this far!

Have you tried MUA nail polishes? What's you're favourite shade? I'd love to know in the comments or you can tell me via twitter @/teenswithablog.

Till next week!

Tartan // Fashion February 3

Posted by Unknown at 2/18/2014 1 comments
Happy Tuesday!
Its week 3 of Fashion February and this weeks topic is tartan! Now we both love Tartan so this week should be easy!
The rules were that we had to style any piece of clothing could be tartan top or bottom. And add cat eye sunglasses, but that was optional.

Okay so lets get started!
We decided to go for a vintage look this week as we when we got given the topic of cat style sunglasses and the tartan item, a few accessories came to mind.

For the main item of the post the tartan item we picked this vintage pinafore dress. When we saw the style of dress we just couldn't resist styling this item. This is from MissPap £19.99 it is not too expensive and is from a brand we love the style of!

For the top to go underneath we decided to go plain, a black crop top from NewLook for £5.99 we didn't want to distract from the main item and we didn't want to run into any unsightly pattern clashes! we wanted the red from the dress to pop out. We decided to keep it simple with the under top and go for a plain black top in a different style rather than just full length.

For an extra accessory we decided to go with a vintage black hat from MissGuided  for £12.99. Now this hat is a little pricey but then so are most other vintage items. We loved the ribbon detail and thought the hat could be styled easily with the whole outfit.

Next we wanted something that was in fashion now but still stuck to the vintage theme. So what better than a satchel bag from MissGuided for £19.99. This bag has great gold detailing and really does add to the outfit overall. We really do like this bag because it isn't to big but is just the right size.

Now we got the choice whether to add this item to our outfit and we chose that we would because it  most defiantly goes with the outfit we style. We chose cat eye sunglasses from NewLook for £4.99. We didn't want to go with really defined cat eye shaped glasses but we did want some with a slight cat eye shape, we think these glasses were defiantly the ones we were looking for and we love the chain detail on the side just adds that extra touch!

Okay guys that's it from us today you can check out our other Fashion February posts and don't forget to come back next week for our last Fashion February post.

OOTD #2 | Chloe

Posted by Unknown at 2/13/2014 1 comments
As I didn't have a lot of time for today's post I thought I would do a quick and easy OOTD for you all because I really enjoyed the last one I done and I'm going out tonight to a school event, so I thought I might as well show you what I'm wearing.

I'm wearing this purple knitted jumper from Primark and its a size 12.

Now its cold outside so it would be silly not to wear a coat! I'm wearing this one I got from New look and its aged 14-15 years. (It looks green in the picture but its a black/blue colour)

On my legs I'm wearing plain black leggings from Matalan in size 8.

Shoes wise I have gone for these converse type shoes from Primark and they are size 7.

Now as it school event I don't want to get too dressed up but I still need to accessorize!
So in my hair I have this cute little doughnut bow hair tie from JD Buttons on facebook and I'll leave the link to the page at the end.
(Excuse my awkward face in this haha)

And that's my outfit complete! I couldn't be bothered with necklaces and bracelets as I wanted to go comfy! As I said the link to JD Buttons is Here. It would mean the world to me if you check out it out as its my sisters page. She makes almost anything from Bows to cuddly toys! And they are cheap!
(I am in no way being sponsored to this I am just simply trying to help my sister out :) )

Till next time

Hammer Pants // Fashion February 2

Posted by Unknown at 2/12/2014 1 comments

Hello lovelies, today is our second Fashion February post you can read our first Here.
The topic we were given for post 2 is Harem pants also known as Hammer pant. We were aloud any pair we wanted and the extra challenge was to add a ear cuff so carry on reading to see how we styled this outfit.

First up is the main item for today's post it's the Harem pants. These are simple grey trousers and we thought would be easier to find and you can style a lot with. These were from ASOS and we really liked the way these looked they seemed to be not too baggy but still classed as harem pants.

Next up is the lace crop Top. We have chosen this loose crop top from NewLook because we didn't want to have baggy trousers and then a tight top, we thought that we would be a bit creative and pick something that maybe other people wouldn't pick (maybe you would :p)  We thought that the lace pattern wasn't too noticeable but still added that nice little touch to the outfit overall.

Next we decided to add the Earcuff. Infinity jewellery's is in right now and once we saw how cute this was we couldn't resist styling this with this outfit. We decided to include this item from a well known high street brand.

Also from Claire's is the Bracelet. We also decided to match the bracelet to the cuff, plus this was adorable and I actually want to buy one now! The jewellery isn't to much and adds that hint of gold colour to the outfit.

Last we added a hint of black with the Shoes. These shoes are from TopShop they have tiny black studs just so the shoes aren't plain, overall we decided to not add brighter colours but add many neutral colours.

NUMARI // Fashion February

Posted by Unknown at 2/03/2014 2 comments
Hello lovelies, welcome to our Fashion February post, this is a collaboration with many other amazing bloggers, TeensWithABlog would just like to thank Ali for hosting Fashion February it has been so fun already and we are only on the first post! Please check her blog out Here

This post is based around a NUMARI dress, it can be found and purchased Here
The rules were to pick 5 items to pair with this dress and tell you about them, we had a choice of 4 colours, Navy&Tan, Black&Tan, Light Blue&White & Tan&Black. We picked the Blue dress because there were many items we could instantly think of that would compliment the dress.

Dress: This dress is one of many by the amazing NUMARI. This dress is good for any body shape, it isn't tight so that you can't move in it, and it' not to baggy so that all your best features are hidden, this is one of the main reasons I like this dress! Anyone can wear it and it looks good. We decided not to add a coat because we didn't want to hide the main aspects of the dress, The white pattern on the shoulder/sleeve and at the bottom of the dress to the right. We also didn't want to add any bright colours because we wanted the blue to stand out so instead we chose to add accessories with more natural colours.

Bracelet: This bracelet is from CLOGUA Gold, I have purchased from this brand before and remembered how lovely their products are so I felt I had to include one somewhere in this outfit! This bracelet compliments the dress perfectly. It doesn't draw away from the dress at all and gold tone runs through all the jewellery to help limit the amount of colours to help the blue in the dress stand out. It does have a small row of chain with a tiny pink stone which I think looks so cute it also does up easily.

Necklace: This collar necklace is from Miss Selfridge. You may be feeling the chain vibe here! we decided to match the jewellery so that there was no chance of them clashing. The chain necklace is a collar so will fit the neckline perfectly, we didn't want to be boring and just have chain so we  decided to pick something with a little design, not to big but luckily Miss Selfridge had exactly what we were thinking of.

Ring: This ring is from CLOGUA Gold, this brand sells only the finest, there products are made from rare welsh gold. This ring is quite a simple design with the chain going to whole way around it. It's not to much and I think it will help add to the complete look. The reason I like this ring is it can pretty much go with anything and it just looks great! If I had to describe it in 3 words I would say, pretty, simple & purely just Fab!

Shoes: These shoes are from MissGuided (online). They are just beautiful to look at, I want a pair, the tan colour really goes with the blue from the dress, these shoes have a great design. They are classic open toes but then they have this really cool design where the buckle overlaps, I just think it looks amazing. They do have quite a tall heel, but they are platform shoes so they have a very thick sole. The buckle on the shoes are gold so they work well with the gold tone from the jewellery.

Bag: This bag I from MissGuided (online). This bag is the same tan colour as the shoes so will match perfectly. I love this bag because it also has gold buckles and really does match the outfit overall. I love the lacy kind of design around the top half of the bag, It helps to make the bag stand out a bit. I love this design of bag as they are in right now.

Thanks so much for reading, please check out all the links and stay tuned for topic 2 which will be up on the 10th of February!
